Newly Renovated Egan Church Is Ready For Worship

Although Egan Methodist Church officially closed earlier this year, the 110-year-old building will open to the public during the holiday season.

On Christmas Eve, from noon to 10 p.m., the church's new owners are opening the doors for a look inside. They have renovated the building's outside and readied the sanctuary with holiday decorations and treats to welcome home families who have worshipped there for years.

In 2017, a South Dakota Mines student noted the infrastructure at Trinity Eco Prayer Park in Rapid City was not adequate to handle larger storms. This sparked the idea for a series of upgrades that would increase water flow and filtration capacity. Thus creating a living laboratory.

Governor Kristi Noem delivered her budget address before the South Dakota Legislature at the State Capitol in Pierre yesterday. The governor noted the state's 19-million-dollar surplus at the end of fiscal year 2020 and an unemployment rate of 3.6% - down from 11% in April.

The governor also opened her address by doubling down on her COVID-19 policies which have become national news.

Arthur McDonald was the 2015 recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics. He won for the discovery of neutrino oscillations -- which shows neutrinos have mass. His research proved neutrinos deviate and switch between three types. He also proved early calculations by Ray Davis and his partner John McCall ... in experiments in the former Homestake Gold Mine ... were accurate.
