PBS Presents SDPB Award for Fundraising Campaign

Friends of SDPB has won the 2022 PBS Philanthropy Award from the PBS Development Advisory Council. The recognition comes as a result of the recently completed Sound Vision Campaign

This annual honor recognizes successful fundraising efforts that directly strengthened the financial sustainability of the station and positioned the station as a leading community institution worthy of transformational giving.

“We are exceedingly proud of receiving this award,” said Ryan Howlett, CEO of Friends of SDPB. “Our staff, campaign volunteers, and board formed a strong team that resulted in exceeding our lofty $13-million goal. This award is a tremendous honor that recognizes their hard work.”

Julie Overgaard, SDPB’s Executive Director, added “The impact of the generosity of those who donated to the Sound Vision Campaign goes far beyond the dollars raised. It helps SDPB live up to the goal of building the future and the community of South Dakota one story at a time.”

The Philanthropy Award recognizes efforts that directly strengthen a station’s financial sustainability. The PBS Development Advisory Council is comprised of key leaders from member stations across the public broadcasting system.

The award was presented at the 2022 PBS Annual Meeting in May.
