The University of South Dakota Women’s Basketball team plays in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament championship game this weekend.  The Coyotes defeated Oregon, 88 to 54, at the Dakota Dome Wednesday night.  U-S-D took an early 9-1 lead, led by 14 points at halftime, and had a 36-point advantage after three quarters.    A big part of the U-S-D win was 71 percent three-point shooting, as the Coyotes hit 15 of 21 long-range shots.  Oregon coach Kelly Graves summed up the Ducks’ performance on his post-game radio show on the Oregon Sports Network.

Graves says, “You know, listen—we met a better team tonight.  They played better, we played like a team that was tired, physically and mentally.  I think once we got down—this team has shown fight.  And I think we got every ounce out of ourselves that we had to give, and at some point it was like ‘hoomph,’—it just broke down.”

The Coyotes will host the W-N-I-T championship game Saturday afternoon at 2 P-M Central Time, against the winner of tonight’s semi-final between Michigan and Florida Gulf Coast University.  The game will air on the CBS Sports Network cable channel.
