Sioux Falls Plans For Snow Clean Up

The city of Sioux Falls is planning for snow fall around the six to eight inches mark. Galynn Huber is the Street Fleet Manager of Public Works for the City of Sioux Falls. He says there’s already crews prepared to tackle this winter storm. Huber says the clean up plan is a little different with this one, because of the warmer temps expected over the weekend.

"We have about 50 miles of back of curb sidewalk that normally we’d pick up during the winter months. But with warmer weather, we’ll just push that snow into the gutter pan and basically let it melt instead of picking it up, which is a real saving for us," Huber says.

Huber says he has around 120 crew members scheduled to help with this storm. He says this includes de-icing, snow plows and snow pick up. The Street Fleet Manager says his goal is to ensure safe travel. Sioux Falls crews hope to have all the snow plowed from the streets by Saturday morning to early Saturday afternoon.
