S.D. Media Icon Sylvia Henken Going Strong At 91

In February, PBS airs a three-hour documentary called “Makers.”  It’s about women who make the U.S. great.  We are interviewing women in South Dakota who make the state great.

On today’s Dakota Digest we have an excerpt from an interview between SDPB’s Karl Gehrke and Sioux Falls business woman and broadcast pioneer Sylvia Henken.   Henken worked at KSOO-TV in the 1960’s and 70’s and founded the city’s Saint Patrick’s Day Parade.   She is described as a Sioux Falls icon.
