16 years ago, Delta David Gier came to the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. When asked by the search committee why he wanted to be its music director he simply said, "I am looking for someplace to build something significant." Maestro Gier has made such an impact that he can add member of the South Dakota Hall of Fame to his resume as is to be virtually inducted September 12.
