Robinson Announces US Representative Campaign in Pierre

A Rapid City native and war vet will challenge U.S. Representative Kristi Noem in the 2014 election. Democrat Corinna Robinson held a brief conference in Pierre at the State Capitol Friday morning. Robinson says although she’s facing a Republican incumbent, she’s confident in her qualifications for the position. She says she’s running because current members of Congress are too focused on partisanship and she plans to provide transparency for South Dakotans.

“I’d want to work on committees that I think my experience would be of value. Working with the House Armed Services committee, perhaps, and through what we’re dealing with the closure of V-A facilities or not. The agriculture committee and making sure the Farm Bill is well executed—won’t be near as comprehensive as it was before, but I want to be a good Representative and be the voice for South Dakotans and let them know that I’m speaking what they need me to say very accurately,” Robinson says.

Robinson says it took some time for her to move back to Rapid City from Washington, DC, last fall and get her campaign set up. She says from now until the election in November, she’s focused on meeting with residents, hearing their concerns, and voicing her intentions to the public.
