In The Moment … September 10, 2020 Show 899 Hour 1
The editor-in-chief for the magazine "The Atlantic" has written a piece where unnamed sources reveal President Donald Trump's words and attitudes about United States military service members. According to the article, the president questions why people would die for their country. During a 2017 visit to France, for example, the president referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood (in 1918) as "suckers" for getting killed. As the road to the November 3rd election continues, we check in with South Dakota State University political scientists about the landscape of the election, including what the recent revelations tell us about this year's campaign trail. Lisa Hager, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at South Dakota State University.
