Noem Says Coronvirus Cases Will Likely Increase Until May

Office of Governor Kristi Noem
/
State of South Dakota

Governor Kristi Noem says projections show coronavirus cases in South Dakota will continue to increase until at least May.

Noem says the information comes from data and modelling designed to predict the spread of the virus.

During a Facebook live address, Noem said the number of COVID-19 cases will continue to increase.

“Actually, we won’t be done dealing—potentially, from what we can predict by watching whats happened in other states like ours, demographics like ours, modelling that other experts, universities and studies have given us across the country and even looking at patterns across the world where it’s appropriate—that we will, in June, July, August still be watching this trend going through the state of South Dakota.”

Noem says she will use her authority where she can to make reasonable decisions to take care of people. She asks that people stay home and limit the size of any group.
