Governor Kristi Noem is appointing Joshua Shields as Chief of Staff to the governor’s office.
Shields served as Noem’s campaign manager for her first congressional run in 2010, and as Thune’s campaign manager for his re-election bid in 2016.
Shields will replace Herb Jones, who has held the position since January. Jones also served on Noem’s campaign and transition team.
In a statement released by the governor’s office, Jones says it’s been a great honor to help lead Noem’s team. He says it was always his intention to get the governor’s office set up and running. He says he’s looking forward to getting back to being a grandfather.
