Lynn & James / Schaefer, Peterson, Smith & Tallakson

Two sets from the 2013 Sioux River Folk Festival make up this week's program.  First, Jami Lynn and Dylan James perform a few tunes from their April, 2013 release, "Cluck and Croon," along with other favorites.  Lynn's classically trained voice is equally suited for jazz, blues, indie and folk/roots music.  James has become an adept flatpicker in the 60's style of Doc Watson.  Then, "Doctor" Tom Schaefer joins the guitar and mandolin duo of Tom Peterson and Charley Smith along with vocalist Gayle Tallakson.  Schaefer won the South Dakota State Fiddle Championship three years in a row (1978-80).  Both sets were recorded during the evening performances on August 3, 2013 at Newton Hills State Park south of Canton.  The 2014 Sioux River Folk Festival is scheduled for August 1-3.  Go to www.fotm.org for more information!
