Latin Grammy Nominee Sings In Sioux Falls

Chilean vocalist Claudia Acuña is in Las Vegas this week for the Latin Grammy Awards. Her latest release, Turning Pages, is nominated for Best Latin Jazz Album. Following the award ceremonies, she travels to Sioux Falls where she’ll perform music from Turning Pages at the Orpheum Theatre Friday evening. The performance is part of the Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues concert season.

Acuña first established herself on the small Chilean jazz scene while she was still in her early 20s. In 1995 she came to New York City and paid her dues for a couple years before earning a major label contract with Verve Records and releasing her debut album in 2000.

Turning Pages is her fifth album and her first in a decade. Speaking to Jazz Nightly from Las Vegas, she told Karl Gehrke that she’s excited the album has been nominated for a Latin Grammy.
