JEOPARDY! Clue Crew Visits South Dakota

JEOPARDY! Clue Crew on Deadwood Main Street

The long-running quiz show JEOPARDY! made its tour of the fifty states complete with a visit to South Dakota this week. The JEOPARDY! Clue Crew made stops in Lead and Deadwood.

If you’re familiar with the game-show JEOPARDY! you may have run across some familiar faces around the Northern Black Hills this week.

“So we’ve got a JEOPARDY! clue for you. The category is Deadwood. HBO’s Deadwood portrayed many real nineteenth century residents of the town including this ruthless character played by Ian McShane... Who is Al Swearengen?” says the Clue Crew.

Kelly, Sarah, and Jimmy from the JEOPARDY! Clue Crew dropped in at the Sanford Underground Lab in Lead and also stopped to shoot footage from Deadwood’s Main Street. The Clue Crew is here in South Dakota gathering material for JEOPARDY!’s thirtieth season.

Clue Crew Member Sarah says she can’t divulge details of the visit.

“Our Jeopardy viewers know that we like to hit the most interesting and exciting and informative locations wherever we are, so you'll have to use your imagination about all the places that we’re visiting - but we are hitting several spots while we’re here in South Dakota,” says Sarah.

Sarah says the Clue Crew’s stop in the state is a JEOPARDY! milestone.

“We can’t really tell you where we’ve come from or where we’re headed, but we can say with pride that we did save South Dakota as - you know we like to say we saved the best for last. South Dakota is our fiftieth state that we’re actually shooting clues for the show, so we’re very proud about that,” says Sarah.

Sarah says she’s visited South Dakota with JEOPARDY! in the past, but fellow Clue Crew member Kelly says this is her first time in the state.

“South Dakota, again, will be very well represented. I think you’ll be very proud to see what we captured here on our trip,” says Kelly.

Representatives from JEOPARDY! say they are commemorating the show’s thirty years in the Q & A business with a Battle of the Decades Tournament where top contestants from the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s compete for a million dollar prize.
