"Instruments Of Song"

Baritone Jesse Blumberg enjoys a busy and varied schedule of opera, concert, and recital performances in New York City and beyond. Some of his recent engagements include Niobe, Regina di Tebe at Boston Early Music Festival, Bernstein's Mass at London's Royal Festival Hall, and performances with the New York Festival of Song. Blumberg has toured with the Mark Morris Dance Group and the Waverly Consort, and has performed recitals for the Marilyn Horne Foundation. A very active performer of new music, he has premiered important works by Lisa Bielawa, Tom Cipullo, and Ricky Ian Gordon, and works closely with several other renowned composers as a new member of the Mirror Visions Ensemble. Blumberg is one of the artists in USD's "Instruments of Song" performances February 27-March 1. At 8:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 1, Blumberg and Martin Katz, a renowned opera coach and pianist, will perform songs by Beethoven, Schumann, Ravel and Tom Cipullo at Aalfs Auditorium inside Slagle Hall. Blumberg and Katz will also teach a master class from 2-5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. The master class is free to the public and will be held in Colton Recital Hall inside the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts. Blumberg discussed the performance happening this week and how he got involved with music.
