Holocaust Expert Speaks At USD

Dr. Geoffrey Megargee is the Senior Applied Research scholar in the Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.  He’s the general editor of the multi-volume “Encyclopedia of Camps and Ghettos, 1933-1945.”  Most people are unaware of the full extent of the Nazi camp and ghetto system.  Behind the well-known names, such as Auschwitz, Dachau, Treblinka and Warsaw, there was a vast universe of facilities, more than 42,000 of them, that formed the heart of the Nazi regime.  Published by Indiana University Press in association with the Museum, the encyclopedia provides both scholars and a broader audience with a fundamental reference work on the history of the camps and ghettos and facilitate further research in the field.  Megargee is presenting the lecture “The Universe of Nazi Camps and Ghettos” this evening at 7:00 at the University of South Dakota in the Muenster University Center Ballroom.
