Forever attached to the Black Hills, Haley Bonar returned home to play a show at The Garage in Rapid City just after Thanksgiving. The Twin Cities based Bonar is proud to have grown up in the Mt. Rushmore State while her music has gained critical acclaim since moving to Minnesota in her late teens. Bonar received two Minnesota Music Awards honors for her 2006 release "Lure the Fox." Many of the songs for her latest CD, "Last War," were written two to three years before it saw the light of day. The nine-song project interconnects themes of growth, maturation and being a mother while many of the numbers radiate an indie pop charm. In a review of "Last War," NPR said Bonar "has brightened and polished her sound to a glistening shine." Bonar played a solo show at The Garage - just her and her 1957 Guild acoustic guitar.
