FRONTLINE: Coronavirus Pandemic

PBS FRONTLINE

In The Moment ... April 21, 2020 Show 800 Hour 1

On January 21st, the first confirmed case of coronavirus in the United States was reported by the Centers for Disease Control. The patient near Seattle had recently returned from Wuhan, China, where officials have been dealing with illnesses caused by the coronavirus since December.

In the following three months, more than three-quarters of a million positive cases have been reported - along with more than 42,000 deaths in the U.S. alone. One of the biggest hot spots is just a few blocks away from our Sioux Falls studio at the Smithfield pork plant where at least 725 employees have tested positive.

Since that first case in Washington state, our next guest has spent a lot of time there working on the new episode of FRONTLINE which premieres tonight. Miles O'Brien is the writer, producer, director and correspondent for "Coronavirus Pandemic." See it tonight at 8:00 p.m. Central/7:00 p.m. Mountain on SDPB-TV. The film is also being made available two hours early on the PBS Video App and online at PBS.ORG/FRONTLINE.
