Free Museums and Parks

Whether you like history or the outdoors, you can access both interests for free this weekend on National Public Lands Day and National Museum Day Live.

More than 1400 venues across the country are celebrating Smithsonian Magazine’s National Museum Day Live on Saturday.

Deadwood History Incorporated spokesperson Rose Speirs says the public can access the Adams Museum, Days of ’76 Museum and the Historic Adams House free of charge after downloading a ticket from Smithsonian.com.

“It’s just another way for people to see what we have to offer, see our culture and really appreciate the great things that the museums have,” says Speirs.

If you’d prefer to spend the day outside, you can visit Wind Cave, Jewel Cave or Badlands National Park for free on Saturday as part of National Public Lands Day. Hundreds of other National Park Service locations are also taking part.

Or, if you like museums and the outdoors – you can celebrate in both locations – all for free.
