Monday, May 6 is the last day for people in Sioux Falls to register for the upcoming school board elections. Four candidates race for two spots on the panel that guides South Dakota’s largest school district.
All adults who live in the Sioux Falls School District can vote in the May 21st board election, but only if they’re registered two weeks beforehand. Bev Chase in elections services with the district says registration isn’t difficult.
"It’s quick and simple. It’s your name, address, your drivers license number, your date of birth and a signature. And, if you want to register in a certain party, you may," Chase says.
People can register at several locations around the city. Visit the school district's webpage for a detailed list of registration places.
Absentee voting also starts Monday, May 6. Voters can cast their absentee ballots at the Minnehaha County Auditor’s office now through the afternoon of election day.
The two people who win the election start their terms on the school board in July. Candidates include Matt Leedom, Joshua James Schorzmann, Carly Reiter, and Kent Alberty.
