Candidate Spotlight: Susan Wismer

In Tuesday's primary, voters decide which candidates advance to the November election. One of those contests is Democratic nomination for Governor of South Dakota. One state lawmaker says she’s the right person for the job.

Susan Wismer is no stranger to South Dakota politics. The Britton native is on her third term in the state legislature; now she wants to be governor. She champions more focus - and funding - for education and social services.

The statewide primary election happens Tuesday. Wismer faces fellow Democrat Joe Lowe in the bid for governor of South Dakota. Registered Democrats are able to vote for their party members – and South Dakota Independents are also allowed to cast ballots in the Democratic primary.
