The suicide rate for kids ages 10 through 14 has more than doubled from 1999 to 2018 nationwide, according to the CDC. Today's young people are challenged by anxiety and depression and addiction. The need for mental health services in South Dakota is also growing.
Today we talk about one of the efforts to meet the growing need. Supported by a major grant from the Helmsley Charitable Trust, Avera Health seeks to build a new four-story wing at the Avera Behavioral Health Center in Sioux Falls.
