Avera's Adaptation After The Storm

SDPB

In The Moment ... September 19, 2019 Show 661 Hour 2

Hours after tornadoes touched down in Sioux Falls last week, we began hearing stories of destruction, loss, and heroism. A medical team at Avera's Heart Hospital continued an emergency operation as winds battered the building and a tornado brushed the roof. Avera's Behavioral Health facility received structural damage, calling for a new path for care for patients.

Mark Vortherms is Vice President of Primary Care, Avera Medical Group. He joins us today for a review of how the storm affected patient services, what Avera is doing to ensure those services continue, and the outlook for the future of Behavioral Health.

Anyone needing to access Avera Behavioral Health services is asked to call 1-800-691-4336, or locally 605-322-4065. Calls are taken 24/7, and are free and confidential.
