2019 Fiscal Year Surplus

SDPB

In The Moment ... July 18, 2019 Show 618 Hour 2

The State of South Dakota is ending its 2019 fiscal year with a 19.4 million dollar surplus. That fiscal year ended on June 30th.

Governor Kristi Noem says the state did not spend as much as the legislature anticipated. However, revenue collections came in lower than anticipated.

The appropriations committee will meet next week to pour over the FY19 budget and get a sense of revenue forecasts going forward.

SDPB’s Lee Strubinger is with us to unpack some of FY19 and what the future holds for the state budget.

Lori Walsh is the host and senior producer of In the Moment.
