Lesley Visser is the first female sports journalist to be honored with the Al Neuharth Award for Excellence in Media.
Visser speaks to the public Monday as she accepts the award at the Freedom Forum conference room in Vermillion.
As an employee of CBS, Visser has enjoyed many firsts as a female sports journalist, including enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the first woman assigned to a Super Bowl Sideline and being voted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
