Registration fees for medicinal cannabis businesses will go up nearly 70 percent by the end of this month.

The state Department of Health has the authority to raise the fee following the passage of Senate Bill 43 this session.

Once the bill becomes enforced, certification prices will rise to $9,000. Currently, it stands at $5,310.

The new law takes effect on the first of July. It requires the fee hike to go into effect by Sept. 30.
