A presidential candidate endorsed by both South Dakota senators is bowing out of the race.

Sen. Tim Scott suspended his campaign Sunday.

Both Sen. John Thune and Sen. Mike Rounds publicly backed Scott since he announced his campaign in May. Thune appeared at Scott’s presidential launch. Rounds compared him to Ronald Regan.

However, the South Carolina Republican struggled to separate himself from a crowded Republican field dominated by former president Donald Trump.
