Gov. Kristi Noem has made another visit to the southern border to inspect efforts to reduce border crossings.

Noem met with the 50 South Dakota National Guard troops she deployed to the U.S.-Mexico border this summer. The troops were deployed following a requestfrom Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas.

U.S. Border Patrol officials said they arresteda record-high 91,000 migrants crossing the border in family groups last month.

In a press release, Noem called the border a "warzone," and blamed President Joe Biden for the increase in crossings.

“The situation at our Southern border continues to deteriorate. The Mexican drug cartels are taking advantage of the open border to proliferate their drugs and human trafficking. This criminal activity is making South Dakotans less safe,” Noem said.

Noem last visited the border in July.
