A new documentary covers Nobel Peace Prize-winning journalist Dmitri Muratov’s battle to defend free speech in Putin’s Russia.

This interview originally aired on In the Moment on SDPB Radio.

In a new PBS FRONTLINE, Russian journalist Dmitry Muratov asks this question: Has the world fallen out of love with democracy?

Muratov has been honored with the Nobel Peace Prize, but his reporting on the Russian invasion of Ukraine has put his life at grave risk.

"Putin vs. the Press" explores the consequences of reporting in Russia and what true bravery looks like. The film's director Patrick Forbes discusses Muratov's advocacy, the risks he takes and his fight for the soul of Russia.

"Putin vs. the Press" begins streaming on FRONTLINE's website, YouTube and the PBS app today at 6 central, 5 mountain. The film will broadcast on SDPB TV on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 9 central, 8 mountain.
