South Dakota Focus: The decades-long fight to end the food tax

Governor Noem's pledge to repeal the state sales tax on groceries is the latest in a long history of attempts to end the food tax. In fact, some advocates have spent the better part of the last twenty years pushing for the end of a tax they say contributes to food insecurity in the state.
