U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson is seeking a third term. The 45-year-old Republican announced his run for re-election to the state’s lone House seat Monday in a campaign video.
“We're used to politicians who make promises but don't deliver," he said. "When I ran for the House, I promised you two things. First, I'd be a conservative. And secondly, I get things done. Unlike many in D.C., I've kept my promises.”
Johnson emphasized his record.
“During my time in Congress, I've been a strong conservative voice," he said. "I've opposed the green New Deal. overreaching federal regulation, federal vaccine mandates, the erosion of our rights, and the massive trillion-dollar spending deals.”
Johnson is facing a primary challenge from state Representative Taffy Howard. Howard has $114,000 in campaign funds, while Johnson has over $2 million.
Democrats have not announced a candidate for the position.
