South Dakota Governor Candidate Dennis Daugaard
Balancing the budget without raising taxes and criminal justice reform are among the accomplishments Governor Dennis Daugaard cites in his bid for re-election. Daugaard first became involved in politics in 1996 when he was elected to the state legislature. He served as Mike Rounds' Lieutenant Governor before South Dakotans elected him the state's chief executive in 2010. Daugaard faces challenges from Democrat Susan Wismer and independent Mike Myers in Tuesday’s election. He joined Dakota Midday and discussed some of his first term accomplishments and his priorities for a possible second.
