Candidate Spotlight: Gov. Dennis Daugaard

The field of candidates for governor of South Dakota is soon narrowing. Primary elections happen on June 3rd. Ahead of the vote that selects the candidate for the major political parties, South Dakota Public Broadcasting brings you highlights from each person seeking the state’s top job. Here is an interview with the first of two Republicans campaigning for governor.

South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard is the most well-known candidate in the race. He’s led South Dakota for three-and-a-half years, and he says he's found success in promoting economic development, increasing government transparency, and leading on issues of education and health care.

Governor Dennis Daugaard faces off against fellow Republican Lora Hubbel in the primary. Hear a conversation with Hubbel on Tuesday, May 27.
