Ballot Issue Explanations Posted

South Dakota voters get to weigh in on three issues in the upcoming November election.

Attorney General Marty Jackley issued his write updescribing the two initiated measures and one proposed constitutional amendment set to appear on the 2014 ballot.

“The first (Initiated Measure 17) being a measure dealing with health insurers to include all wiling and qualified providers on provider lists.  The second is Initiated Measure 18 for the purpose of raising the  minimum wage for non-tipped employees. South Dakota’s minimum wage right now is at $7.25 per hour and the measure would increase that to $8.50 cents per hour and also include an annual increase in the cost of living for that minimum wage.  And then finally, we have a Constitutional Amendment Q that would authorize the South Dakota legislature to allow roulette, keno, and craps in Deadwood,” says Jackley.

Jackley says the ballot explanations help voters get acquainted with the issues before they go to the polls.   You can find a copy of the explanations issues by the Attorney General here.
