Governor Kristi Noem says she’s testing negative for COVID-19.
That comes after Noem spent time at a fundraiser with Trump campaign fundraising official Kimberly Guilfoyle on Thursday. Guilfoyle tested positive for COVID 19 on Friday.
Following the fireworks show at Mt. Rushmore, Noem flew back to Washington DC on Air Force One with the president.
Speaking on Fox News Tuesday, Noem says she’s taking the virus seriously.
“Also, we need to remember that Kimberly was asymptomatic and the science of the virus tells us it’s very difficult to spread the virus when you’re asymptomatic,” Noem says. “I was tested again today, which came back negative again.”
A person who is asymptomatic is infected with COVID 19, but never develops any symptoms.
In a tweet on July 4, Guilfoyle said she looks forward to a speedy recovery.
Researchers are unsure how many people fall into the asymptomatic category. A World Health Official says current estimates are anywhere between six to 41 percent.
"Asymptomatic" is sometimes used to describe anyone who shows no symptoms at the time of testing positive for the virus. The WHO says individuals may be "presymptomatic" and will develop symptoms over the next few days.
