Ep. 8: 'By Deed and by Word'

SDPB

Members of the state Legislature cast hundreds of votes every session. But in April of 2022, they face a vote none of the thousands of lawmakers who had served before them considered.

House lawmakers must decide whether to impeach Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg, who struck and killed a man with his car.

Even if they move forward with impeachment, Ravnsborg’s fate would be unclear. He’d face an impeachment trial in the state Senate where there would need to be a 2/3 majority to remove him.

In this episode of Short Walk, we enter the South Dakota Statehouse as lawmakers consider an unprecedented decision.
