The relationship between the state and Ellsworth Air Force Base is crucial, especially considering the recent multi-billion-dollar investment of the B-21 Raider. Now the state has named leaders for a task force focused solely on the base’s development.

Governor Kristi Noem joins other governors in opposition to the Biden Administration’s ban on liquid natural gas exports. Noem and 24 other Republican governors expressed concern that restricting exports will weaken the nation’s economic and national security.

In an effort to boost recruits and retention, South Dakota tribal law enforcement officers can now attend training in-state. This comes after the Oglala Sioux Tribe declared an emergency late last year due to rising crime, asking for federal assistance.

Faith is a town of about 400 and located two hours northeast of Rapid City. Mayor Glen Haines says inflation and delays related to the pandemic put a wrench in a major infrastructure project.

The city of Centerville won the statewide community of the year award. City officials say the acknowledgement is the result of growth and looking ahead to the future.
