On today's update...

Rapid City Republican Sen. Michael Diedrich has announced he will not seek reelection following his current term. Diedrich was absent for the entirety of the last legislative session because of his battle with cancer.

A newly organized group hopes to block a landmark bill regulating pipelines from becoming law. The group hopes to secure a public "no" vote this fall.

The legislative session has implications beyond the walls of the state capitol. The state Emergency Response Commission took time this week to assess the now completed legislative year.

A new program to make contacting medical providers more accessible is in effect in Rapid City and Mitchell. The Nexus SD platform allows providers to organizations to communicate information.

The close of one road has implications beyond daily use. It extends to emergency services, maintenance, and infrastructure money. Now, the state DOT is looking at potential changes along I-90 in western South Dakota.

And more.
