Governor Kristi Noem is joining the Texas governor in declaring the situation at the U.S. Southern border an "invasion." The Republican governor briefed lawmakers on her plans during a joint session of the state legislature.

There is currently no plan for Texas to reimburse South Dakota for the National Guard deployments to the U.S.-Mexico border. The topic came up during testimony to replenish the Emergency and Disaster Fund.
