On today's update...

Freedom. That's the theme of Governor Kristi Noem's annual State of the State speech, where she's tying in her national workforce recruiting campaign. It included the freedom to own guns, the freedom to hunt, the freedom to farm and ranch, and the freedom to be secure, to learn, to be respected, and healthy.

The Department of Social Services (DSS) is changing payment policies in hopes that more daycare providers will accept children who receive government assistance. The DSS is now basing payments for children enrolled in the Child Care Assistance Program on hours enrolled, rather than hours attended.

The flags of two tribal governments were placed in the Capitol rotunda Wednesday. Governor Kristi Noem announced a ceremony to display the two flags during her annual State of the State address.

More tribal members on the Pine Ridge Reservation can now get access to the internet as part of a pilot program. The Lakota Times reports Oglala Lakota Telecommunications is offering Starlink kits for reservation households without high-speed internet.

And more.
