Military officials say a B-1 Lancer crashed at Ellsworth Air Force Base, resulting in several injuries. The bomber aircraft was attempting to land following a training mission Thursday afternoon, according to an Air Force spokesperson.

Governor Kristi Noem says migration through the U.S. southern border is leading to what she calls a "change in demographics" in the country. The comments are drawing criticism from a local immigration advocacy group.

The Oglala Sioux Tribe has filed a motion to compel the U.S. government to do more to support tribal law enforcement efforts. This comes after the tribe declared a state of emergency relating to concerning crime trends and a lack of police resources.

The Bureau of Finance Management reports a strong fiscal year for the state. The agency's Commissioner says the state's revenues for the year sit around $6.5 billion with expenses of $5.7 billion.

One piece of legislation could see the state cover reduced lunches for students. The bill's primary sponsor says it will directly improve the quality of life for families across the state while keeping in line with federal regulations.
