Authorities in the Rapid City area say they're working to combat a recent rise in retail theft. Theft reports are up more than 15 percent.

The Department of Social Services is changing the Child Care Assistance Program. Beginning Jan. 1, 2024, providers will receive full authorized payments even if there are temporary changes in child attendance.

A bond vote in the Oldham-Ramone-Rutland School District has failed. The nearly $16 million bond would have been used to build a new school for the area.

As long-term care centers close statewide, Custer has bucked the trend in a big way. Once on the chopping block, the Custer Care and Rehab Center welcomed its first resident this week.
