On today's update...

Newly proposed rules could mandate the report of any ethical violations in South Dakota classrooms. While problem teachers need to be dealt with, some paused at the scope of the proposal.

A legislative Interim Rules Review Committee rejected two proposed medical marijuana rules before approving the overall package. One of the rules would have prohibited companies from flavoring its marijuana edibles and vape products.

Lincoln County commissioners decided against discussing the Department of Corrections’ response letter on a proposed new men’s state prison. This comes after a group of landowners take legal action against the DOC over its proposed new site.

The Lawrence County Commission has voted to allow petitioners more access at government facilities. Previously, those petitioners were required to stay in a single plaza between the county courthouse and government offices.

To solve big problems, sometimes, you need to think micro. A new microscope at South Dakota Mines allows researchers to go deeper than ever before – and could change the materials you use daily.

And more.
