The much-anticipated trial of accused killer and conspirator Richard Hirth will not move forward a expected following the defense's loss of a key witness. He's the last suspect to be tried in the murder-for-hire case of Jessica Rehfeld — a Rapid City woman killed in 2015.

The Wounded Knee Masacre Memorial and Sacred Site Act passes through the House with a unanimous vote. Representative Dusty Johnson introduced the bill to help tribes memorialize the lives lost in the Wounded Knee Massacre.

The memorial at Wounded Knee, one of the most prominent landmarks on the Pine Ridge Reservation, has been vandalized. The memorial was placed in the early 1900s by Joseph Horn Cloud — a direct descendent of victims of the Wounded Knee Massacre.
