The civil trial between a former district ranger and a former Black Hills National Forest supervisor is entering day four. The case centers around the reassignment of former Mystic District Ranger Ruth Esperance by retired-Supervisor Mark Van Every.

Developing a healthy environment for small businesses to flourish in rural settings can be a huge boon to local economies. Now, extra funding will help one university be that resource for northeast South Dakota.

The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded a $1.1 million grant to a collaborative program between three universities. Black Hills State and two other out-of-state schools will each use the funds to recruit students in science and technology fields from diverse backgrounds.

From troubled-teen graffiti artist to painting the city's largest mural, Sioux Falls artist Walter Portz's latest work is on display. Portz completed the mural in just 13 days covering a city-owned seven-story parking garage on East 10th street.
