South Dakota has no way to tax lithium extracted from the Black Hills. That's the subject of a new paper from a non-partisan group that works for the state legislature.

A backup has formed in South Dakota's teacher certification program. As a result, educators in your district could be walking into class without knowing if they're certified for the coming school year.

South Dakota Democratic Party members are calling for an emergency meeting to recall party chair Jennifer Slaight-Hansen. That's according to a note obtained by SDPB from state Senator Reynold Nesiba.

June 4, 2024 — that's the date Mitchell voters will vote on a 25-million-dollar loan to fund a dredge of Lake Mitchell. Last month, a council vote to set that date drew sparks on the timeframe.
