Water from the Missouri River flows into 20 cities and rural water systems in the eastern part of the state. There are now projects in the works to supply Missouri River water to the rest of the state. It's part of a long-term plan to begin tapping an irrigation source promised decades ago.

A Nevada judge has tossed a drug trafficking charge against Nathan Chasing Horse, but upheld the sweeping sexual abuse charges he faces in state court. The "Dances with Wolves" actor is accused of sexually abusing Indigenous women and girls for decades.

A federal appeals court has dismissed a challenge that South Dakota and other Republican-leaning states filed against a Biden administration environmental policy. The decision leaves in place the administration's formula, that calculates damages to people and the environment from greenhouse gas emissions.

April is National Safe Digging month. South Dakota's Public Utilities Commission is reminding landowners to call 811 before any digging projects.
