A ranching couple in Rapid City is bringing legal action against the city and its landfill. Ross and Fern Johnson filed a lawsuit against Rapid City and its landfill for damages to their cattle ranch operations.

FEMA has approved additional funding for South Dakota counties to help offset winter storms that occurred in December 2022. President Joe Biden’s original declaration approved disaster assistance for 16 counties to help them recover from infrastructure damages sustained by the storms.

A McIntosh woman who admitted to embezzling from a grain elevator has been sentenced. DeAnn Holzworth will spend 60 days in jail and pay a $39,000 fine, according to the Attorney General’s office.
