State lawmakers will spend the summer looking at two major topics: funding for counties and long-term care. These are issues that have plagued the state for years.

Federal authorities expect to return a 13-year-old boy's remains to his Native American tribe in South Dakota this fall. The statement comes after the tribe wrote to urge faster return of the child.

After contentious debate over library books in Rapid City Area Schools expanded into a national headline, the policies that led to the situation are now under the microscope. At the most recent meeting, a major hurdle facing the board was unveiled—overlapping and unclear policies that date back decades.

In Rapid City, art education opportunities before high school are few and far between. In response, the Dahl Arts Center is stepping up their education offerings for the community's youth.
