On today's update...

The fiscal year 2024 state budget will break with a long-standing tradition — equal funding increases for the "Big Three." While Governor Kristi Noem approved the budget earlier this week, she says deviation from the norm sets a bad precedent.

The South Dakota Supreme Court heard argument in the case of an "implicated individual" this week. SDPB previously confirmed this refers to billionaire T. Denny Sanford. The case orbits a criminal probe into a child pornography investigation.

Governor Kristi Noem has vetoed a bill increasing the amount of THC allowed in hemp that's being transferred between processors. House Bill 1209 would have increased the maximum THC in hemp as a "product in process" from one percent to five percent.

U.S. Senator Mike Rounds is reintroducing the "New Markets for State-Inspected Meat and Poultry Act." The act would allow Food Safety Inspection Service's approved Meat and Poultry and Inspection programs to sell meat across state lines.

And more.
