Governor Kristi Noem has signed the Fiscal Year 2024 budget bill approved by lawmakers, though the fate of a separate bill reducing the sales tax remains unclear. Noem announced the signing of SB 210 in a letter to legislators.

Governor Noem also signed legislation that puts more than $390 million into the state's prison system. Most of that money will go toward investing in new prison facilities.

Sioux Falls police are looking for a driver they say was involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash. Police say the victim's car got stuck in a ditch Friday night. When the driver got out, he was struck and killed by a pickup.

A new Sioux Falls area interchange offers opportunities for future business development. The 85th Street interchange project has received all necessary funding and signatures of approval to get underway.

A new report suggests sports programs at South Dakota's two largest universities are substantially subsidized by public money. The athletic budgets for both SDSU and USD are around $20 million.

Elevate Rapid City, a community development organization, has awarded $200,000 in loans to childcare providers. Those dollars are allocated to Rural America Initiatives, Children's House, and Little Treasures Daycare.
